Percussion Man
We decided this morning that we couldn't put off giving Ozzie a bath any longer. He doesn't like it , but allows himself to be led off to the shower as if being led to the gallows. There was once a time when he was washed outside with a hose, but he is old and sensitive and we think he deserves warm water. I didn't discover that we had no dog shampoo until I had gotten him into the shower and thoroughly wet, so I washed him with some of my olive oil shampoo. We decanted him onto a yoga mat where John waited with a towel which he wasn't able to apply until Ozzie had shaken several gallons of water and a pound of dog hair off himself and onto the bathroom walls and floor. This took some time to mop up.
Once Ozzie was settled in his bed to dry off we took ourselves off to the Farmers' Market which was filled with winter vegetables...broccoli, purple and orange cauliflower, beets, leeks, carrots cabbages and potatoes. There were also peppers galore, and the mushroom man had at least ten kinds. We passed up on everything but the broccoli, which we can't get to head in our own garden, and the wonderful baby greens with flowers in them. They alone are worth the trip.
We usually zip past the non food stalls, but it was another beautiful morning, we were in no hurry to leave and I was enjoying my almond croissant. My eye was caught by the big man with the drums showing the little kid how to play them. He then dug into a beautiful basket on the table and came up with a variety of castanet type percussion devices. The kid was not distracted, and continued to play the drums. I hope his mother, looking on, bought him one....
The roofers will be back tomorrow and while the weather is still beautiful today we spent the day in the garden. The only thing that marred the day was a small article in the paper indicating that the weather may turn windy on Wednesday 'necessitating' another power shut-off.
I repaired indoors to research solar powered well pumps....more common than one would think since they are used a lot by farmers in remote locations where bringing in power through power lines is much more expensive than using solar panels. The irony of the whole situation continues... we need a power company that can provide power with equipment that doesn't start fires...and doesn't require us to use that equipment even though they turn it off all the time.
Good thing Ozzie got his bath before all the water, never mind warm water, goes away again.
Maybe we'll get lucky and it will turn out to be another false alarm....
