Frost and sun
Frost on the roofs this morning and on the car. A sign of winter but then the sun came out and there was no wind ( usually a common occurrence when you live by the sea) so we walked up to the sea wall and beyond, with Fletch. The first part of the walk is not as pleasant at the moment as the road under the railway bridge is wet and muddy and the land alongside the road by the dock has been completely levelled and all the vegetation has been removed. ( see extra) Where once it was trees and shrubs, banks of wild flowers and a plentiful supply of blackberries has gone. I believe they are building a fence alongside the path. I'm just hoping that once that is done not all the soil is covered over and nature will take over come spring.. although now the trees have gone it wont be the same.
Luckily this devastation is only so far along the path.. and then we re alongside trees and shrubs again It's just a matter of averting my eyes to the right.fo the first few 100 yards.
On the right side is Cavendish Dock.. Opened by Disraeli at the end of the 19th century and the biggest dock in Europe at the time it was hardly used. Now only birds are allowed on the water so it is still a pleasant walk, only 5 minutes from home.
