Cousins

Cousins from Portland, Oregon are staying.  My brother and I took them down to West Bay on the Jurassic Coast.  We had a good lunch in the seafood cafe on the beach and then walked along the pier to look at the view. In the distance just fading out of sight on the right is the Isle of Portland, Dorset.  Our quest was to find out why their home city was named the same and having first been called Stumptown (after tree clearance) it was changed to Portland after Portland, Maine - now we have to do more research to find the link between that city and our Isle!  Probably a sailor or a quarryman emigrated to the USA. Portland Dorset is and has been famous for its Portland Stone.
