The Wild West of Hipperholme
It would have been easy to have abandoned the walk I signed up for today, a six-mile circular from Halifax as a guest of Leeds University Staff Walking Club. I'm so glad I didn't. The forecast was for yet more persistent rain and that's how it looked from the train, but it stopped as we were getting all our heavy weather gear adjusted outside the station. It never really returned. The route promised lots of history and muted autumn colours, which it duly delivered on, along with considerably more besides, courtesy of the canvas provided by the derelict Allen brickworks.
There was so much to see that I put together a picture story of the walk here, and another piece with more photos of the Wild West here.
