Apedale heritage centre

We went to this more-or-less by mistake.  It is very, very good if you are interested in industrial history and/or mining history.  You can go down a coal mine – not a reconstruction, a real one – there's a narrow-gauge railway; there is a really interesting museum.  It's free (but please give them a donation).
