Molly Dancing.... Outrageous!

Cold and frosty, but lovely sunshine. Went for a walk, coming back through town came across these dancers strutting their stuff outside the parish church.

When they stopped for a rest I chatted to the 'Molly" wearing the green pinny. He told me this is an old East Anglian tradition when poor farms workers went round the villages dancing to beg for money. The women would wear trousers, the men skirts and masks to disguise themselves.

He went on to tell me it was just as outrageous then for a woman to wear trousers as it was for a man to wear a skirt. We looked at one another and started laughing, it's good to be outrageous now and again!
