A Cool Job

Probably one of the largest fridges in the world, not top ten but up there …. I would have thought. This pano' shows about 40% of the floor space that is kept at a steady 5 degrees. There is an additional area of about 20% at 12 degrees where fruit & veg' are stored and the robots work. This is the Danish Co-op's cold storage distribution centre for four different supermarket chains. During the days and nights there are between 200 and 400 people driving around but my shift is just 14, working in between, sorting things out. I'm not so glad about the shift (ends 21:30) but my colleagues and workplace are fantastic. And thanks to active, responsible unionisation, the money and conditions are incredible. Gotta' love a 34 hour week, no matter the hours.
