The edge of the world

Run on the beach. Swim in the pool. Prepare for my work trip to Geneva. I take the train to the airport bus and the whole journey door to door is exactly one hour. In the early morning when I have to take taxis those one way journeys can cost almost as much as the actual flight to Geneva.

As the plane climbed over the Borders the wintry sun was filtering away on the western horizon. In the gloaming two planets, I am assuming the bright one is Jupiter and the smaller Venus? Watching these bright lights fixed in the darkness I realised all over again how important these heavenly lights were to ancient mariners.

The flight left on time and arrived five minutes early. Despite the plane being full I was lucky enough to have a spare seat between me and my fellow traveller in the aisle seat. Our national flag carrier provides this service in it business club cabin - for an extortionate fee!

On arrival I made my way to hotel for an early night in readiness for two very busy and extremely important days in prospect.
