Hand sorting

Today we got up at 3.30 and took a domestic flight from Mumbai to Bhuj. We were picked up by Ashapura Minerals, given a tour of the plant, which was quite modern and employs 400 people. We went on a tour of the mines, bentonite and bauxite, these women were working hard hand sorting the minerals. It was pretty hot and dusty. Most European mineral producers have X-ray or colour automatic sorting machines now.
