Shopping & Exhibition

I think we were all a little ‘groggy’ when we woke this morning, loads of exercise and fresh air yesterday and then a bit of a late night last night as we lounged and chatted.

Unlike yesterday the hotel restaurant was open for breakfast this morning so having eaten we set off for the “Bright Lights”.
Covent Garden was our first stop having first climbed the 15 floors, 193 steps, up the spiral staircase from the Underground.

With an appointment she was unable to dodge Sam left us here, promising to catch us up early afternoon, Clare and I headed off for a bit of retail therapy. Really cool pens for Samantha and some Gudrunson clothes for Mrs S.

Then a leisurely stroll through the city, Leicester Square, Picadilly, and up to Fortnum & Mason for what is now our traditional Christmas visit for loose leaf tea, coffee, relishes and biscuits. It’s a great experience, not for those who don’t like crowds and I even got to fill my water bottle from their tap marked ‘champagne water’!

We met Samantha at the V&A Museum and whilst Clare and Samantha enjoyed the Mary Quant exhibition I wandered a few of the galleries and read my book.

We set off for Bruno’s Restaurant, another one of Sams favourites where we enjoyed huge portions of really well cooked food for next to nothing (compared to restaurants just feet away) before heading off into Chinatown seeking ‘Jiggle Cake’.

We took our Chinese style cake back to Beckton and enjoyed it in our hotel room.
