A new sense of positivity

As predicted by the Met Office (and as a friend of mine quite rightly said, "it's about time they got something right") snow fell on Edinburgh today. Unfortunately it didn't leave any impression whatsoever and by the afternoon the sky had turned grey and lifeless - just the kind of day to annoy most photographers. However, I was determined not to let it get to me and so just as dusk was falling, in what is known as 'The Blue Hour', I headed out to capture another iconic building of Edinburgh. This time it was the yellow fronted houses of Dean Village. Tonight taught me that whilst the Golden Hour may not actually be that good on some days, the blue hour always gives these really nice deep blue skies, ideal for balancing against nicely lit buildings.
