Arthur seat
Where there is no seat. Actually the path way up was horrible, we think a mixture of frost then rain made it very uncomfortable to walk on, a thick slimy mud. Instead we walked off at an angle up hill and had a great walk.
Earlier on the way to AS we walked through the grass market looking for coffee and food and enjoyed both in a small cafe at the top, afterwards gazing in awe at the history of rocks leading towards Dynamic Earth, a place of magic for dozens of youngsters. we didn’t stay long as the seat (that isn’t there) was calling. Or not as it turned out, we didn’t go to the top, the number of people walking up and down was astonishing, no wonder the path was in such a state.
The views were wonderful and once down through a circuitous route we decided to call into the Scottish Parliament building for food and drink and surprised to see armed police outside the place and airport type security on the way in. The times we live in. After a late lunch a walk back into the centre to spend a few minutes shopping.
Back to the camp site on the bus to change into smarter clothes for a fabulous meal at Castle Terrace, a brilliant night out with too much wine. We all chose the taster menu with accompanying wines, great fun and even more so when taking the bus home at 11.30 at night. Thank goodness we were the only people on the top deck.
