Crathes Castle

A wet Sunday in the country, though we were lucky to time our visit to Crathes to a pause in the almost non stop rain. Not always particularly heavy, but relentless.

The harling around the tower part of the castle looks as though it is absorbing the moisture, which will not be good for whatever is underneath. To my eyes it looks as though they are going to have to do something about the harling before too long.

Considering the weather it was maybe unsurprising there did not seem to be many people around. Even the cafe was pretty deserted when we stopped for a bowl of soup.
