Scafell Pike from Eskdale

Wonderful days walking ...

... have been up Scafell Pike several times before, but have never walked in from Eskdale - best route I've experienced by far! Some general details of the rough route can be found here.

We left our Eskdale base just after 8am, reached the summit at 1pm, and made it back to the Hostel just after 5pm --- long walk in; tremendous valley and mountain scenery along the way; steep gully climb up; serious winter conditions on top; steep valley drop back down (see snap); long walk back out which included a fording of the River Esk; and head-torches required for the last half-hour of the route home ... a walking-day that *really did* have it all :-)

And ... as part of our periodic, large group-gatherings ... completes the high tops of Scotland, Wales and now England :-))
