Tapestry
A long haul for the Samba Sisters today - picked up the van at Lockerbie and Hazel drove us to Hawick for the 9th Borders' "Reclaim the Night". After the speeches, we led the march through the town, with the police closing the streets in front of us, and a crowd of people, blowing whistles, chanting and waving banners. Back at the hall, we played a set on the stage and then enjoyed some soup and socialising.
The highlight of the evening for me was something totally unexpected (as John Lennon said "life is what happens when you're making other plans" or similar) and who thought that we would be putting a stitch onto the Great Tapestry of Scotland? Everyone was invited to contribute to a new panel which will be added when its new home opens in the Borders in 2021.
We will have to have a Samba Sisters outing to look at it...
