The Sarasota Police Department does a facebook event each Thanksgiving and officers write what they are personally thankful for on a whiteboard, have their photo taken with their message, and then it’s posted on their facebook page beginning on Thanksgiving. They have been doing this for four years, so I decided to put on my turkey suit, make a sign and show up on the street corner next to police headquarters. It was great! I had my photo taken with some little kids who were going to the park nearby, waved to people passing by in their cars, and talked with a couple officers and volunteers.
