William and Basil in Martinshaw Wood
As is our wont, William, Basil and I take a little walk before driving to Mummy Meet in Markfield on a Monday.
This is Martinshaw Wood just northwest of Ratby. Despite being so late in the year, there is still colour. The leaves on the alder trees and saplings have turned yellow in a week, contrasting harmoniously with the russet brown of the oaks.
Having turned up his nose at the wood and its paths being too muddy, William tried stepping in the muddy rim to the path, playing with the mud and sitting down in it. My car is now a mess, but never mind.
A good crowd again at Mummy Meet. I'm glad Grandad took over entertaining William this afternoon. I was exhausted after a disturbed night and fell asleep.
A dark, murky day but the wood, and William, Basil and Len made up for it. Was able to pop in on Sue too for a cuppa and a chat.
