My Other Car is a Ferrari!!
A trident is not neccessarily a symbol of Old Father Neptune. In this case it's a trigger for anyone who is dying for glamour and speed.
It's the symbol of Maserati the manufacturer of luxury cars based in Modena, Italy.
Originally started in Bologna by the Maserati brothers, Alfieri, Bindo, Carlo, Ettore, and Ernest around the year 1914, Maserati, today, is owned by the Fiat group.
There are five current models of Maserati. (5 brothers, 5 models...guess they just couldn't agree!)
This is one of them...NOT...Its a Lambourgini for all you eagle eyed lovers of fast cars... It just happened to be parked outside the Grand Hyatt where GK and I went today to meet with a very good friend for lunch. (I parked my red Ferrari just behind it while waiting for it to be valet parked!)
With so much going on here with the love of speed and the pace of driving that has claimed so many young local lives....it was refreshing to read about the Abu Dhabi Porsche Initiative.
They have taken their campaign for road safety into schools and even set up an external course with mini 'fast cars' that children can drive around and learn the procedures for staying safe behind the wheel.
Headlines in the news today read.....6 killed in 4 accidents in UAE!
4 pedestrians killed in Sharjah in 2 days
I guess the fascination with speed will always be a part of life....but lessons learned early have more chance of being remembered if the experience is enjoyable...and so 'hats off to Porsche!' Its a good start for this part of the world.
A point to ponder too as the owner of this Lambourgini (and the red Ferrari behind which isn't really mine :( ) ...eventually finishes their lunch and take once more to the racetrack highways of Dubai!
Happy Blipping Everyone
