Platypus in the Wild

A goal of this trip achieved today with the sighting of a platypus in the river alongside our campsite.

We had travelled further towards Hobart and stopped at another National Park. We were assured that we'd be able to see a platypus. It's not easy spotting these creatures and even harder to get a lens pointing the right way and focussed, so I was delighted to achieve this. At first I thought it was just a stick floating along! Most of the creature is under water but it's recognisable.

Back to Hobart tomorrow for a flight to Melbourne for more time with my relations before flying home in a week's time.
