Dead trees

I pass by these most days. They are at the end of our little path to the canal. I think they must have died in the past couple of years. I didn't notice them until they looked dead. But are they dead, or is some life still lurking inside them? I feel they should be honoured and that I should doff my cap to them. Trees turning into gravestones. Still with some nobility.
