Wainui Falls
Another beautifully warm day, how lucky we have been over the last 10 days, the only rain we have had was the day we travelled up to Nelson.
We did some domestic chores this morning, like visiting the laundry attached to the motel complex. We then went off to walk to the Wainui Falls, these a a 20 metre (or 66 feet) drop, and very impressive. Its only a 3.4 km returning by the same track and reasonably easy, some climbing but nothing too challenging.
The crazy thing though, and its our own fault, we went in the middle of the day, the sun was beating down on the falls, we could of gone much earlier if we'd really though about it. The car park was rather full, realising that we would be sharing the falls with a number of people.....but luck was on our side, and everyone was coming out as we went in. I was able to use my tripod and the Big Stopper. It was hard work though, as I had to expose for the water not wanting it to be blown out. So a little bit of post processing to bring back something from the shadows.....far from perfect but not too bad considering the blazing sun on the water.
Any rate, enough about that. Later in the afternoon we went to visit freespiral & himself's beautiful family....what a joy it was to be with them see what they are doing and most importantly having some fun with wee Esme.....I didn't ask permission to blip them (silly me) so have put a couple in extra.....do take a look.
We finished off a great day with scrumptious pizzas from The Dangerous Kitchen an organic restaurant which is highly regarded far and wide. A refreshing Pinot Gris from Central Otago completed the meal.
Tomorrow we head back over the Takaka hill back to Nelson. We're loath to leave this stunning part of our country, but home beckons.
Rainie
