Jesus Green

When I first came to Cambridge we were lucky to.be able to rent the whole of the ground floor of number 7 Park Parade overlooking Jesus Green.  Other half was doing a PhD and we had a lot of friends nearby.
As I cycled across today I recalled in the 1980s how we used to watch Clive James jogging around the Green in a grey tracksuit from our bay window.
Our landlord and his wife were music publishers with a flat at the Barbican.  He was an accomplished musician and when they were in Cambridge we would be entertained by him playing the grand piano above us. His wife was an artist and designed covers for sheet music.  After his death they named a block of flats by the end of river after him.
