The sound of silence

My old noise cancelling head phones have been gradually dying  and on our last flight were totally useless. As I have a birthday coming up in the next couple of weeks I decided to treat myself to a new pair. Given the deteriorating state of my hearing, paying £000s or £00s for a pair of head phones was nonsense. Even when I was working and had perfect hearing I would have thought it was just silly money. These  cost just £50, maybe the sound isn't hifi, I wouldn't know, but the noise cancellation is wonderful, much better than my old ones ever were.
