Fame

In Monmouth this evening. This is a statue of Charles Rolls (of Rolls Royce fame) whose family lived nearby, with an aeroplane. This is ironic as he died in a plane crash, in 1910. The statue is in front of the Shire Hall, which is where in 1840 three of the Chartist protestors became the last people in Britain to be sentenced to be hung, drawn and quartered for treason (although the sentences were later commuted to transportation to Australia). Such contrasting claims to fame. I liked the lighting though.
