Pianodrome
at Leith Theatre
"Pianodrome is a circular 100 seater amphitheatre made entirely - down to the flathead screws - out of upcycled pianos. Five segments of tiered seating with stairs, bannisters, gangways and balconies all lovingly constructed from over 50 old upright pianos saved from incineration surround a central stage in which anything can and does happen. There are even five tuned and playable pianos embedded in the structure. It looks and sounds amazing."
We watched the 20 youth 'orchestra' Tinderbox rehearsing for their performance on 8th December. Some interesting sounds coming out of that amphitheatre. It was also as cold as it looks.
