Lichfield

We went to Lichfield to meet our friends Liz and Genny.  It was the day of the town's Christmas Market so all the car parks were full and the town centre very busy.  We eventually found a spot in the Council House car park.

The meeting place was Dr Samual Johnson's Birthplace which is now a museum.  The town is proud of its favourite son and has a statue to him in the town square (see extra).  The museum, which has free entry, is a compact building over five floors, some very interesting artefacts and a very large library, well large for that size of house.

On leaving there we walked over to the cathedral and round the square before lunch.  Liz had booked a table at Ego Mediterranean, a large, modern restaurant next to the river across from the cathedral (coincidentally the same chain as the place in Kenilworth where we ate last Monday).  We had a very nice meal and chat.

As we left to walk back to the car park I took a few more photos of the cathedral as the afternoon light was quite special.
