Race Day

Today was race day for the Formula 1 Abu Dhabi GP. The race was at 5pm so we took some time before then to walk around the track by the marina including under the famous Yas Hotel. There was quite easy access and you could get very close to the track although behind wire safety fencing of course. The hotel is a stunning building, see one perspective of it Annie took in the extras.

We headed to our seats in the main grandstand and watched the organised chaos of getting cars to the grid, along with the great and the good on their grid walk. Finally it was race time and the awesome sound of 20 F1 cars leaving the grid in front of us. The race was a pretty easy victory for world champion Lewis Hamilton and we enjoyed the top three doing a few donuts on the main straight before heading for the podium (see extra). No champagne to spray here but they made the most of the rose water anyway!

Post race, we headed down to the Du Arena next door for a gig by The Killers who did a greatest hits run through. An awesome end to an awesome day.
