Taking flight

Me, too:
I’m taking flight from ‘Merry Christmas,’
escaping from Noel! Noel!
I won’t watch ‘It’s a Wonderful Life,’
I don’t wish ‘good will to all men’ (or women),
I’ll be absent from the January sales,
and I’ll try very hard not to say: ‘Happy New Year.’

It’s not ‘bah, humbug!’
I’m not a party spoiler
I have enough good reasons to hate this season;
It drags me down
and oppresses me.
A new year is a good thing though;
then we can forget about all this useless cracking.
