Colourful Colorado
I was back in the air and off to Denver once more today. Believe it or not, this is my LAST trip of 2019! I have vacation next week and I gave away the one remaining trip the week before Christmas. I also have vacation in January, so unless I decide to pick up an extra trip I should be off now for the next 6 weeks or so!
When we landed in Denver it was a beautiful blue sky, not a cloud in the sky day. It was warm (13C or 55F) but there was still lots of snow on the ground. I could have blipped a photo of the white landscape just before landing, or maybe the mile long walk I took along the creek on my way between shopping trips. I could have even blipped a picture of Heathrow with the Christmas tree. But instead you get to see one of my favourite buildings in Denver, the City & County Building, also shown in my blip last Tuesday.
I hadn’t expected it to be lit up yet. I was mistakenly told last week that it wouldn’t be lit up until the 6th when there is a Parade of Lights. But when I passed by in a taxi back from my shopping trip earlier this evening, I saw it already lit up! So once I dropped off my shopping in the hotel room I was back out on foot, taking several pictures. Regardless of the fact that it’s the middle of the night at home and I’m usually fast asleep in bed by this time.
This building was built in 1932 and the building lit up is a Denver institution so I am glad I’ve seen it again after a number of years. Check this out here for a history of the lighting of the building.
