Title decider

So on Sunday my work football team had its (basically) title deciding match against Queens College - a team who have won the league the last two years. The game was scrappy and poor really, two teams very evenly matched simply cancelling each other out. A draw would be good enough for us as Queens had drawn a game earlier on in the season and we were yet to drop a point.

I started in centre midfield and came off after 75 minutes of running myself into the ground. The game was poised tensely at 0-0 and I decided to blip the final stages whilst running the line. Took this shot just as our left back was taking a free kick - I liked the way it showed the positions people had taken further up the field and also his technique.

In the last 5 minutes we let in a scrappy goal and the game finished 1-0 to Queens. So we probably won't win the league but it doesn't matter because we put in a great shift and couldn't be faulted for our effort. We just needed a little more quality on the day - sometimes that happens in life as well as football but there will always be another chance, another opportunity to get it right. When you lose, you cant let your head drop for too long. Learn from the experience and move on.

There will always be another day...
