Peebles High School

Our local secondary school not only has many pupils from the town, but many buses bring in students from the surrounding towns, villages and countryside.

Last week, fire broke out.   70 firefighters and nine fire appliances tackled the blaze for 24 hours.   

You might imagine the chaos resulting.   Particularly for those working towards important examinations coming up in the New Year.   Senior students are being bussed 19 miles to Galashiels for lessons (although many of the out of town pupils have much further to travel.)

Places are being sought to teach younger pupils in the town.

A fourteen year old boy has been arrested and charged with wilful fire-raising.
