Left vs Right.

On the left: Canon G9, less than 1 year old, protected with a lensmate since new, and a Hoya Pro filter and a lens cap and always kept in an all weather Lowepro bag. Only ever been abroad once, to Croatia. Never comes out in bad weather or on the beach.

On the right: Olympus C-4000 zoom. My first digital camera. Over five years old, only protected by the original lens cap, takes Smart Media cards, has been to Morocco (twice), South Africa, Gambia, lots and lots of camping trips, various concerts and still works brilliantly.

The difference??
My Olympus has never ever had a speck of dust inside its lens and has never gone wrong.
My G9 has just arrived back from being serviced under warranty because of dust in the lens. It arrived with a note that said "...if dust should be present it is due to the conditions the camera has been used in."

Is it time Canon admitted to a design fault?
