Believe the Hype

This is a custom shop Gibson Les Paul 1959. An exact recreation of ... a Gibson Les Paul from 1959 ( they are legendary ).

I’d always dismissed custom shop stuff as snake oil, I have a Les Paul, it’s a normal one and is a great guitar, Ted has a mid 80’s one which is excellent, Tom has one which is also really good. I have played dozens of normal Les Pauls.

So I expected this to be a bit ‘meh’...

But no, it was amazing, utterly brilliant. Just better, in every way, better than anything I’ve ever played. I was gobsmacked, I’m currently looking down the back of the sofa for five and a half grand !
