École Polytechnique
Thirty years ago on this date, I was a 22 year old post-graduate research student, getting ready to go to an end of term/Christmas party. My world was changed forever when I heard that a gunman had killed 14 women engineering students at the École Polytechnique in Montreal - killed them because they were women. Killed because they wanted to enter a man’s realm. None of us thought this massacre could happen in Canada. We were wrong.
I know we’ve made some progress in those 30 years, but we all must continue to fight violence against women in all its forms. Please join me in sending love and light out into the world to help conquer hate and darkness.
