East Kent coast

...on a very windy morning. Gusts are predicted of up to 49 miles an hour this morning but will die down by mid afternoon.
We are going across to France tomorrow but via the tunnel so winds should not be a problem - hopefully the French strikers won't be either.

The papers are full of the Whakaari/White Island volcanic eruption. As a child l used to look out of my bedroom window at that island, puffing away - some days more than others. We used to pick up pumice off the beach from it. I have been across several times, always closely supervised by the one company that appeared to be licenced to land people on the island. That seems to have changed now - aah, the power of tourists money?
