Arbutus burl

From a distance, we both thought the burl looked like a heart. Those eyes peeking out from under it freak me out a bit though.  :-) I love the way the bark of arbutus peels off, and it was lovely the way it was peeling around the burl.
It was colder today, no rain, perfect for a walk.
