Narrow escape!

This young Egyptian Goose was wandering around the back garden this morning when Coda ran out...luckily I was able to grab the dog before she could catch it.
The parents were nearby getting very agitated, but it eventually managed to get airborne and fly over the wall to the garden behind us where the parents have their permanent breeding place!
We have our summer visitors back - the boomslangs who are terrorizing the poor birds. The gardener today got the fright of his life when he was cutting the hedge and nearly cut a huge snake in half.
We have had four hours of power and our next lot of load shedding is due to start soon! I will stop complaining soon...but it really is annoying.
