Pohutukawa

I have been in Auckland attending a farewell for four friends I worked with for many years. Seeing all the Pohutukawa trees breaking into flower was very special. It feels like Christmas’ this small tree is more of an orange than the usual vibrant red. I was told this variety originates from the Kermadec Islands but I’m not sure if that is correct.
