The Chapel of Rest in Stroud cemetery
I've mentioned and blipped this fine but now redundant building, the Chapel of Rest in Stroud cemetery, many times before. We live about a hundred yards down the slope below it on the right of this picture.
I hadn't recorded it from this angle before which is close to the railway line and the River Frome which formed what is colloquially known as the Golden Valley.
I'm taking as many pictures of the Chapel as a trustee of the Preservation Trust, as we are developing proposals for its possible next iteration as a partly community building. Showing its stature as a landscape feature will be part of any proposal.
The rather brighter hilltop on the distant far right of the picture is close to the area called The Heavens, just beyond The Horns valley which our garden backs onto.
