Here we are again...

Back at Southmead Hospital. tldr: Janet is fine, her kidney function is still very low, but only because of a blockage and there seems no risk of losing the kidney (which for new readers was transplanted March 2017).

The blockage is still there, but the hospital are draining off the fluids the kidney wasn't getting a chance to deal with prior to - probably - fitting a stent to ensure this doesn't happen again. A friend whose husband is an even more recent transplant recipient told me earlier that these can be replaced twice-yearly, so that's something to look forward to...

She has a very nice room, and when I was there earlier had rather a delicious lunch - I hadn't eaten for what seems ages! - brought by very friendly and efficient staff. I expect her to be in for a few days.

What really bothered her was tomorrow's election, and the possibility she might miss her chance of voting. Happily that's all in hand, and I've got an emergency proxy vote (in fact, I have two because I'm already wielding our daughter's!).

It's miserable and wet out there, but that was outweighed by the scant and expensive hospital car parking, so I took Morrigan in. To be honest, although the idea of wet riding doesn't initially attract, there is something about riding in heavy rain...

I'm perfectly dry inside my Goretex jacket and trousers, aside from the inevitable face wash due to my penchant for open face helmets. My heated gloves keep my hands warm, and the music is playing loud in my stereo earplugs. The bike of course isn't at all bothered.

It's almost funny watching the faces of people sat in their enclosed, air-conditioned comfort, looking aghast at the fool on the bike, or the poor bugger who can't afford better... [grin]

...totally overlooking the fun I'm having being washed over my the elements of water and air, sat on a solid lump of earth, powered by fire!

Thank you, everyone who's read and written their blessings, prayers and good wishes. Thanks for the messages and the calls. More as I have it. And with a nod to Bob for Wide Wednesday, her stay here is going to be... temporary. ;-)
