Essential Works

Our village is currently looking like a building site as Northern Gas Networks have decided that it is ‘essential’ to replace all the gas mains. Apparently there may be interruptions to supplies at some point. Could this have not been done in summer??


This is the scene along the main road (Clifford Road) through the village, including traffic lights outside the school. There is barely enough room for the buses to get past..yet the ‘school run parkers’ think this road is still fair game for the essential task of picking up their little darlings.

When these clowns have finished we are told that Yorkshire Water are moving in for ‘essential’ water main replacement. Let’s hope they don’t break the pipes like last time they were here.

All this chaos is due to go on until March/April next year. I wonder how many holes YW will be digging in the same place that NGN have just filled in.
