Couldn't resist bringing a couple of bottles of the local rum back with us; we may have enjoyed a cocktail or two in which these rums had featured prominently.

If only you could bottle the real spirit of the island: the friendliness and enjoyment of life of the local people.

The weather back home was something of a contrast too; we drove home, after just a couple of hours of sleep on the plane, through torrential rain, strong winds and bitter cold, sustained by regular stops for caffeine.
