Two Visitors
My grandson had a doctor appointment in the area this afternoon, so my daughter-in-law stopped by to give him a chance to take a nap. She worked at the kitchen table and must have had one eye out the window, because she called me in two times to check out the action. First was this Pileated Woodpecker, enjoying the suet block and leaving less behind for the little Downy waiting in the wings. Then there was a Red-shouldered Hawk (extras), which left empty handed, since the word must have gone out that he was hungry. There was not another bird in sight. If my DIL hadn't been working in there, I wouldn't have known we had these special outdoor visitors.
