I answer to Ma. I also answer to Mum and to Mother, although the latter has a ring of formality to it which sometimes worries me.

I have never needed to answer to Mummy since the youngest were in primary school.
I know certain middle aged ladies who continue to refer to their maternal parent as Mummy. Many of them appear to have been educated at boarding schools.
These ladies also have Daddies.

I do wonder whether with my becoming a Lady on these pages, I should expect to be addressed as Mater.
