Day 343/19 Highcliffe Castle
At the top of the windows the fancy decoration is actually a latin saying. The translation is something like 'There is nothing to beat being on a boat, battling with the seas and the weather. I am happy to be onshore and watching others'
This castle and it's story is a gem and I'm definitely going back again. The castle was a derelict building without a roof when renovation started. As news of the renovation spread, various bits of the castle where given back so the castle is both modern - warm and wheel chair accessible - and ancient.
As it is on the cliffs overlooking the Isle of Wight and a short walk from Muddiford I think I'll definitely revisit
