City of Light
We were off to Edinburgh Castle Lights tonight for our birthdays, they have lit up various parts of the castle plus have this laser shining across the city to the Nelson Monument on Calton Hill. While the famous 1 o'clock gun on the castle is fired once daily since 1861, ships in the River Forth could not hear it... so there was a wire that ran along the path of this blue laser to the monument and when the gun went off, the wire triggered a ball to lower on top of the monument, and ships could see that happen. Both the gun and ball still operate at 1pm every day.
The extra is around the castle where buildings had images projected on them with music and animations. It's worth a visit which was helped by dry but cold weather.
