Katydids, crickets and grasshoppers are all in the same family. This is a nymph with wings just beginning to develop.


This little fella put in an appearance while I was working in the garden today. Not at all shy and quite determined my camera was far more interesting than the ripe apricot.

Yesterday’s changelings will eventually be as black as their parents - the variety that is predominant in NZ. Thank you very much for the comments, stars and hearts.
