AN EARLY MORNING BLIP OPPORTUNITY
I had changed into my fluffy polar bear PJs last night and was settling down to watch TV when I had a call from a paramedic to say that Mum was quite poorly and her breathing wasn’t good. They had rung a doctor and were waiting to hear back. Dilemma - should I just get in the car and go or stop and change my PJs?
I decided to go just as I was because I didn’t know what to expect and might have lost precious minutes changing, so off I went. The rain was hammering down but I must confess that I did drive along a nearby road at 35 mph when I am usually a stickler for driving at 30 mph but all was well - and the paramedics were very surprised to see me so quickly.
As my sister, Karen, was working the two paramedics appraised me of the situation and left, because they had other calls to make, so I then settled down to wait for a doctor to ring me and fortunately, only had to wait an hour. I was told by him at 9.05 p.m. that a doctor would come to see Mum but by this time, she was sleeping and her breathing had stabilised, so I wasn’t too concerned when I was told it could be two to three hours. However, at 10.15 p.m. I answered the door to a GP who was absolutely drenched - and who told me he had had difficulty finding Mum’s flat. He was extremely thorough and suggested that we ask Mum’s GP to come out in the next few days as he wasn’t sure whether she had an infection and didn’t want to prescribe antibiotics, which often make her feel quite queasy, if they weren’t necessary.
After he left, I wrote out all that the visiting GP had told me so that I could let my sister, brother and niece know - fortunately, my training kicked in and I think I got all the salient points down - then I sent text messages to them, left a note for the morning carer and settled Mum down for the night. I got home just after 11.30 p.m. but then needed to unwind before I went to bed, which I eventually did at 1.40 a.m.
I did hope that I might sleep on this morning, but was awake early, so decided to get up and shower, and then saw this beautiful moon through the kitchen window so went outside to take some photographs. For those interested, the full moon was yesterday, so today it is a 98% waning gibbous, the first phase after the full moon occurs.
I am going over to meet my sister at 10.30 this morning, so wanted to get my Blip sorted, as I’m not sure what the rest of the day will bring and of course, I may have a little snooze at some point!
Under Day 13 of our Advent Calendar for the Tempus Novo charity it says, “Today you have helped an ex-offender stay in employment and out of crime, with an encouraging call from a specialist case worker.” Great to know that there are those who have faith in and encourage those for whom life has not been easy, especially after being in trouble.
“Correction does much,
but encouragement
does more.”
Johann Wolfgang von Goethe
P.S. Thank you for your kind comments on yesterday’s Dental Fairy Blip - having read the above, you will know why I didn’t do much commenting!
