The election turned out as devastating as predicted. Trumpism has arrived in Europe. On the other hand the Tories fully own it now. Scotland voted clearly against Brexit, against the Tories (yet again) and for another Independence Referendum. Beyond looking at the results I couldn't face the news. Walked along Queens Drive enjoying the outside and the smell of beer brewing. One thing is clear, Brexit will centralise power and the Scottish Parliament will loose significance. We must not let that happen.

I spent all day at the IT futures conference discussing AI. Charles Stross gave an excellent talk Artificial Intelligence: Threat or Menace. The principal told us that the university is not at risk. The institution has weathered over 400 years. That may well be true. But what is the cost for us?
