Fiddling
It has been a long time since I had took the time to fiddle with a photo. I now fully understand the appeal of Hipstamatic's instant gratification, having done this the long way. Also, unless they had traffic lights and SUV's in the 1850's the subject matter doesn't quite fit the processing attempt-thought I'd point that out before someone else does.
Fiddling is a good thing. Often a day can be too well planned, too tightly scheduled. For most, especially those with children, it is a necessity; doing otherwise could result in unmentionable catastrophe and the pulling out of one's hair. When my daily to-do list gets this long, I tend to look to fiddling in order to avoid diving into it headlong. It is very much like the bedtime stalling one engages in when you're a little kid. It does, however seem to open up certain pathways in the brain, allowing a more gentle thought progression that often lands on something that you wouldn't have thought of while you were...say, making sandwiches.
Mind you, the to-do list is largely self generated. Only two largish things on it are things that someone is paying me for, the rest are not but that doesn't make them less important, in my opinion, just less lucrative.
And all this chatter about fiddling? Just another stalling technique.
